Trip of a lifetime! Mt. Kailash and EBC (20 day trek)
Why did I choose this trip? This encapsulates my WHY? Anatoli Boukreev, guide and a survivor of 1996 disaster - "Mountains are my life...my work. Mountains are not stadiums where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, they are the cathedrals where I practice my religion. I go to them as humans go to worship. From their lofty summits I view my past, the dream of the future and with an unusual acuity, I am allowed to experience my present moment. My strength renewed, my vision cleared, in the mountains I celebrate creation. On each journey I am reborn." The highlight of the trip:
Sitting in front of the mountain at 17,000ft above the sea level after a super challenging trek (It’s too high, too barren and the air is too thin) all day, to reach the goal was amazing. Walking the trail, and taking in the changing incredible scenery. Taking a dip in the high altitude fresh water (ice cold water) lake which is situated at 15000 ft above the sea level. (puts you in a flow state) What would be my advice be to potential travelers? Muscle Strength is in Mind-Be mentally tough; Pace - don't worry, walk at your own pace; Preparation - be in the best shape of your life; Sickness - It is OK if you get sick, it happens, take care of yourself, see the doctors and rest; Personal Sherpa - a must; Extra bottle of oxygen on summit push is well worth cost; Purpose - have purpose for your climb and call upon it in tough times; The more you tolerate discomfort, the more confidence you’ll have in your ability to do difficult things.
